I’ve always believed that the first thing someone should notice when you walk into a room is your shoes. They announce your arrival, punctuate your presence, and reveal all that is left unsaid. Do you favor form over function? Are you someone who makes a statement, or do you slip by in quiet luxury? Do you glide with sultry sway, or stand firm with unwavering poise? Great shoes aren’t just worn—they’re felt. The right pair can transform your mindset.
My love for shoes is woven into the very foundation of my being. Growing up, I watched my mother curate a legendary wardrobe that once filled an entire wing of our home (watch the full closet tour here). A grand hallway, lined with every designer you could imagine, was dedicated exclusively to her 400 pairs of shoes. Though that collection is no longer, it shaped my passion for exceptional footwear. By the age of twelve, I had coined the term: Shoe Whore.
Shoes have always set the tone for my day and anchored my every look. My vintage resale business, nou, was built on a simple yet undeniable formula: a perfect pair of jeans, a classic white tee, and a kickass pair of shoes. I’ve collected shoes from different eras, worn them, sold them, and studied them like precious relics. I’ve obsessed over the curve of a vamp, the placement of a strap, and the perfect pitch of a heel. I’ve come to understand what a shoe reveals about the woman who wears it.
So naturally, it’s only right that I step into what I know best and create my own—the nou shoe.
After years of research, discovery, and curating thousands of shoes, I know what makes a shoe both functional and visually captivating—especially when it comes to heels. The nou shoe won’t reinvent the wheel, but it will feel like the missing piece in your closet. The height will be intentional and elevated, never excessive. The fit will be effortless, like slipping into something you were always meant to wear. And most of all, not just something I’d wear—something I can’t live without.
As for the details… I’ll keep you guessing. Will it be a mule, a pump, or something in between? A kitten heel or a wedge? Neutral tones or something bold and vibrant? You’ll find out soon enough… but one thing’s for sure: you’ll be reaching for it every time you get dressed.
So excited to see where this goes - such an interesting experiment in creative process, design, and turning a passion project into a full-fledged business proposition. Not to mention - these are some of the best vision boards in the game. Cheers, Lexi!
