If you don’t know already….because I won’t shut up about it…I designed my own shoe and it comes out today. Read that twice!!
Not a white-labeled style with my name slapped on it. A true from-scratch design I’ve spent years searching for and never found. So I made them myself.
You may know me as the girl who posts her feet on the internet in the best designer shoes money can buy. I built my business by curating designer pieces that never really went out of style, and by turning Instagram into my storefront. Thousands of shoes have passed through my hands. Because of that, I’ve developed some very strong opinions on what makes a great shoe and a crystal clear perspective on what’s missing in the market.
Everything in stores today is either beautifully made and wildly inaccessible, or mass-produced in synthetic materials and coming from god knows where. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I bought a new pair of heels off the shelf. Nothing feels right.
And if there’s one thing to know about me: I’m impatient. When I want something, I find it…or, in this case, I make it.
From ideation to physical product, I brought this design to life in under four months. A design driven by instinct, obsession, and the belief that there’s a better way to make things: intentionally, and without compromise.
Let this be your reminder: if there’s something you’ve been dreaming up, or you see something that doesn’t exist yet, make it. Even if it feels far away. Especially if it feels far away. You don’t need a massive team or endless resources. You just need a clear point of view and the will to see it through.
Now, let’s talk transparency.
I approached this process with what some might call care, and others might call neurotic obsession. Every detail was considered: the vintage inspired fit (a curved slope with a sturdy 3-inch heel), the materials (leopard-printed ponyhair and fine Italian leather), and even the packaging (a custom denim dust bag that doubles as a purse). Because dust bags are wasteful and ugly and we deserve better.
The shoe market today is bloated, overpriced, and out of touch. Most brands buy into bulk inventory and market the hell out of it to justify their margins and then play it safe in terms of design so they can cast a wider net.
I wanted to do the opposite.
I decided to build Nou Shoes on a made-to-order model: this is what I found to be most honest for our small business and while staying true to our core philosophy of: small batches with no waste, no mindless overstock and no bullshit extra costs.
Just a well-made shoe, at the most direct price I could offer of $375. Say it with me: affordable luxury!
Because if I’m coming from the most sustainable corner of fashion *resale* I’m not about to turn around and flood the market with more stuff no one asked for.
If you’ve been following this journey from the start, you know exactly what this is: a brand built by one girl with a lot of grit, a tiny budget, and your support.
A true labor of love. Mindfully created. And hopefully, the start of something greater.
Nou, just for you. Now live at shopnou.com.
